Wave maker question

What is the consensus between wave patterns...square wave or sine wave?

Is there any real difference?

Never heard of Sine and square wave so thanks for making me google it.. After years of too much bad or linear flow I now find that like everything else, too much of one thing is bad so I mix it up with different wave modes that change throughout the day..
