In my opinion, having 2x on seperate sides pointing towards each other is ideal. I would try to keep it above the rock to prevent flow from being restricted but not straight at any corals. (unless they are far enough away) I do this on both my 90 and my 25 frag tank. (although neither are at full speed or constant flow)

I like my tank to churn in a gyre motion. The flow or current rolling in the tank. Hths
