Wave Makers

What wave makers are you using in 20 gallon nanos?
Uh… right now a sicce xstream 5,000 :face-with-tears-of-joy: But that was in a 75 that busted so kinda wasn’t my first choice but works well I think. I used to use a sicce voyager nano 1000

Depends on what kind of flow you want and how many rocks you have

im looking at getting an ai nero 3, seems to have a good amount of control but not nearly as expensive as an mp10, i have a 20 gal aio that i just started. Im curious to know if the external magnet it sealed though as i would like to put the powerhead on the back glass. if anyone knows please let me know!

Those are just so darn expensive though. I am thinking I want multiple wavemakers. I want to get good current over all my rocks. I am putting 20 pounds in my Nuvo 20.

My go to nano/pico pumps these days are the Jebao MLW/ELW. The 5 series is a max flow of 792gph, and they just came out with a tiny little 3 series that maxes out at 660gph.

They give you the option to run multiple pumps with full controllability in tiny tanks without absolutely blasting stuff. I've been running an MLW-5 in my IM Nuvo 10, but I'm changing it over to a pair of ELW-3m pumps for more varied flow.

I've owned Neros, Hyggers, the small Tunze pumps and currently run MP10s on my larger tank, but the small Jebaos are where it's at for tiny tanks, IMO.

I have Jebao slw-10 in my 20 long and it's overkill I run at 60% it all has to do with placement and hydrodynamics of the coral and rock placement.

I put a coarse sponge between wavemaker and the glass using the suction cup on the cord and the power of the thrust to keep it in place. If I use the magnet on the other side of the glass, the pump gets noisy. but I can't hear it w/o the magnet.

Really useful thread. I’ve got a jecod sow 4 and on it’s lowest setting it’s blown the heads off 2 hammers ( in a 13.5g Fluval evo ). I live in the U.K. and am finding it a nightmare to source these nano wave makers.
