wave motion in reef tank

i have two hydor 3rd gen in my tank 1350 gph 54 gallon corner tank
i was wondering if its possible to make pulsing wave paterns for my tank with smart controller for the hydor ??

Quite likely possible. The controller simply turns on and off the pumps and has a knob for both asynchronous or synchronous running as well as for how long they run (1 sec, 5 sec, etc).

I don't know if you are local to the Chicago area (don't see the location filled out on your profile) but I actually have one of the hydor controllers if you would like it to try it out. If it works for you, it is yours!

I have two of these wavemakers and the controller. And when set to 1 sec which is the lowest setting you can not get the wave motion you are looking for. I also am looking for this wave motion and have decided on going with something different.

I agree with @Ubans13 that there are better solutions out there; however, it depends on more than just this equipment. It depends on the distance the pumps are set apart, width / length of the tank, frequency of their on/off cycle, etc.

Many other wavemaker pumps have better fine tuning. I'm able to get this with the vortechs and was unable to in a 40b with the Hydors when I first started out. Hope this helps!
