Wavemaker closes up coral

I have introduced several corals to a 20tall. If they wavemaker is off theyvarevopen and moving about. But, when I turn it on they close up. Is this normal? Is my wavemaker too strong?

Try a 700gph
and if it has settings turn it to its lowest
you can also put a sponge filter around it to lower the flow which is a super easy thing to do

Or point it at an angle so it hits the glass first before the flow gets to the coral. Lots of ways to diffuse or disrupt the flow depending on your scape and powerhead placement.

It is what I had on hand.

Flip it upside down and point it to the surface... Should deflect the flow enough to make the corals happier
