Hey guys. I am in the market for a Wavemaker to add to my 29 gallon reef tank. Im currently running a Voyager 525 GPH powerhead at the front of the tank, and a SunSun 525 GPH in the back. To be frank, the SunSun is pretty bad quality and It turns off every 2-3 days. Im looking to replace this with the wavemaker, however Ive only come across wavemakers that move a ton of water and arent suitable for my size tank. Ive seen items that produce random burst of water in random directions and am interested in those, would those be considered wavemakers? I really just need some randomized water flow to stir up detritus in places that powerheads wont hit. Any suggestions you guys have for this would be great.

P.S: Im in college and on a tight budget!

Check out the gyre 1k. It fits a standard 29 great and the control options let you dial it in however you need.

For budget shoppers I would suggest checking the marketplace on this forum. Lots of people selling great used equipment for cheap.

I think ive decided to roll with a Koralia. Ive used them before and liked them a lot, and think its broad flow along with the broad flow from my Sicce Voyager would be great. Would you recommend a 525 Gph (giving me roughly 1000gph total) or the 800 gph (around 1300 gph total)?

I always need more flow not less.... so I would go bigger. I guess it depends what you have in the tank though.

Tank will be housing a pair of clowns, soft corals, and a few LPS. Snails, shrimp, etc as well obviously.

Also: What would you advise as far as placement in both scenarios (the 1000gph or the 1300 gph)? Im considering either placement them in the front facing each other for randomized flow when they hit each other, or placing one in the back and one in the front facing opposite directions
