I have been trying to find a wavemaker for a 20 gallon that doesnt throw sand around constantly. Everything I find or read about either is way too powerful even on the slowest setting or 250+ dollars. Any suggestions?

I have a Hydor koralia nano currently, but I'm looking at getting a Jeabo SLW-10 to replace it and add some randomness to my flow. At $50-60 its hard to beat for what it does. I like the idea of a nice wide flow pattern in a nano. Being adjustable and wide flow pattern, I don't have to worry as much about it blasting my corals. If you're looking for a more stream like flow, Jeabo makes the SW2 and SW4 which are also very affordable nano wavemakers.

Definitely should have tried the slw10 instead of going with 2 sicce nano 1000 on their wavesurfer. The click on these are more like a clack and 1 is already having issues with the rear pin holder coming loose every other day or so and stops working. Anyone thinking of these only go with them if you don't mind having them run constantly.

I have the Jeabo SLW-10 on my 20 peninsula, works really well for me.

another vote for the Hydor Koralinas and the corresponding wave maker. I had that in my 29 gal too until I went with 3 of the Tunze Turbenelle 6020's (left middle right) controlled on a apex to mimic tidal flow mixed in with storm (all on) and quiet (all off nighttime )

Very good looking tank! Thanks for you feed back. My tank is almost exactly like yours! But mine is DIY. I'm definitely convinced I'll be buying the SLW-10. My LFS actually carries these in stock. So I don't even have to wait for shipping. I almost walked out of there tonight with it, but decided to do a bit more research before buying one. Also, I spent a lot on coral tonight. Oh well. Just another reason to go back! Maybe I can convince the fiance she should buy the rock flower nem she wanted too. ;)

Update: For the price, i decided to try the hydor koralia nano 240. Hoping for a lot random flow but slow and somewhat calm. if this doesnt work i dont care about the price and buying the Aqamai KPs lol

You will have to use the Smart Wave if you want random flow. The KPs has everything built in to change settings every half hour.

Ah so it will just change on its own then?
The KPs is Wifi controlled on your phone. Every 1/2 hour you can have a different function and different flows. The Koralia with a Smart Wave is just in and off.

That would the large price difference. So if it doesnt have the smartwave attached will it just stay on one function?
