Hello everyone! I am currently expecting my wavemaker Jebao SLW-20 to be delivered, but after all the discussions I read, still unsure where will be the best position. The tank is 350l ( pic attached). The media filter is internal, on the right side of the tank. For now I am planning only FOWLR. The one option is on the right (closer to the surface, on the same side where the filter is), because of the water flow, which after make a circle, will be back to the filter intake. The other option is on the back of the tank, so the spread will be probably more wide and even…Please help me to decide and will be grateful for any recommendations about the what kind of flow and speed will be best on my situation. Thank you all in advance!

The best location will change over time. You want to achieve a few things with flow and you have to customize flow patterns as your tank grows.

The goal is to;

1. Keep gas exchange flowing
2. Bring the right amount of flow to different types of corals
3. Prevent dead spots where detritus builds up.

By default, I try to start with a swirling movement so that crud stays suspended and can head into the overflow box / filter. This is a good place to start.

Thank you for the reply! So you suggest to put the wavemaker on the right side of the tank (where the filter intake is). My concern is that I planned to install the hang on skimmer on the right side of the tank as well…this is one of the reasons I asked about the possible option to put the powerhead on the back wall of the tank.
