I just installed a Red Sea wavemaster. I like the head unit and controls, but two pumps I already had will make noise sometimes when turning on. So I am looking into different circulation pumps. Any body have good results with certain pumps? ...125 gal mixed reef tank.

You need to run pumps that are made to be controlled.. It's all about your price range but most with that unit go for the koralia (controllable) I believe due to the price.. Jbj makes some called the oceanstream or some thing like that also.. If you use normal powerheads they will die fast and make a lot of noise doing it =).. They aren't made to be cycled on and off.

Vortech pumps are awesome in my opinion.

Vortech pump are awesome. ..the price..not so much though.

Moved to current forum. I have used both Jebao and Ecotech. I love them both.

So I tried some maxi jet 1200. One seems to be ok, the other didn't last long before I pulled it out. To much noise. Ordered some Hydor Koralia Evolutions. I really hope these work well.

I used Hydor Evolutions for years with good results. I recently switched to the new Jebao WP series which have built in controllers with much more capabilities so you don't need a controller to operate them and they don't cost much more than the Evo's by themselves minus a controller.
