i have a 55 gal tank and am looking for new wavemakers. I was thinking of 2 jaebo rw-4 would that be enough flow for my tank?

I have a RW-4 and RW-8 on my 40 breeder. I keep them throttled back so I think you would be good although a little on the higher power side of things. A pair of RW-8's would be better because you can always dial them down if it is too much. They tend to lose a lot of oomph has they get dirty. Mine are controlled by my reef angel controller with a minimum power set to 40%. The RW series tends to not wake up or be as controllable at 35% thus setting it to minimum of 40. Anyway just make sure to clean them monthly or you will see a pretty large fall off.

They work, and are pretty reliable. I've had mine for a couple years now. Only thing is to really clean them monthly. If you can manage that then they are a pretty good return on investment.

They are really small and in order to get decent flow you'll have to turn them up which will be very narrow and concentrated. Go for 2 PP8s and run them at 1/2 speed.

The reason I was thinking of the 4’s is because I have very fine sand and I’m trying to avoid sandstorms. Will the 8’s even on low create a sand storm in your guys opinion?

I think the chances of a sand storm will be higher with the 4s on a high setting than 8s on low to mid. Reason being, the 4s will have the narrow/concentrated flow.

Is this a standard 55 that's 48" long? If so, I wouldn't even consider the 4s.

I have had both a 4 and multiple 8s
