Hello!

I was wondering if you guys know if there exist a wavemaker/stream-pump that comes with an internal filter?

My problem is this: I am an artist, working with video. For my current project I am projecting video on a water surface. The water is colored opaque white with white paint base containing mainly titanium dioxide (density 1:200) . I want some movement/waves in the water that are irregular. I have used jebao OW-10, but after 1 week it stops working. This has now happened twice. I am guessing this happens due to the small particles in the water? I am therefore thinking i need a stream pump with a filter. It would be amazing if any of you had an idea where to find this!

My best,

Mercedes

Probably the closest thing to what your describing is going to be an internal filter with a directional nozzle or something you make to direct the water whichever direction you want it to go. These filters are usually designed for very small aquariums, so they have limited flow. The following is a Eheim Mini Up Micro Aquarium Filter.

Thank you so much for getting back at me!

This is probably a stupid question, sorry, i really know very little about this kind of equipment, but: wouldn't a filter just gather paint particles from the water, and not "help" the pump? The water has to stay white, of else it wont reflect a video-projection properly.
I have seen certain pond pumps with an interchangeable sponge filter, like this one: http://sicceus.com/syncra.html
But I cant seem to find a wavemaker pump a sponge filter...

I would try a hot water circulation pump. You can get them at a plumbing supply store. Most are rated to pump liquid other than water. Since you aren’t using it for potable water you can get a cast iron one that cost about have as a stainless steel one.

Alternatively I have stuck a water bottle with the bottom cut off onto the inlet of a powerhead like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Super-SUNSUN...d=1550027830&sr=8-7&keywords=sunsun+powerhead
Then fill the bottle with filter floss as a pre-filter:
https://www.amazon.com/inTank-Aquar...8&qid=1550027878&sr=8-5&keywords=filter+floss

That is quite genius! And a lot cheaper than the VORTECH. Since I need a pump that can make waves/ shoot water out at intervals, maybe I could purchase a cheap stream pump and use the DIY filter solution...

Thanks! that would have been perfect, but I need a pump that can make waves, and shoot water out at intervals...
