i have a 36x24x22 that will be mostly sps dominate.
i am using special grade sand. ( no i am not going barebottom)

what wavemakers would be the best for my setup that would not blow the sand around?

i currently have a reef octo pulse 4 and it blows the sand from the corner of the tank on its lowest setting.

i was thinking about going with 2 of the pulse 2's?

mp10s wont work because my glass is 1/2" thick

I'm running two xf230 gyres on my 36" tank with special grade sand. They are overkill but work great in my sps dominant mixed reef. I have them set up on each side of the tank facing one another on random mode at just about the lowest setting.

Does it move the sand around?

im just not sure i am a fan of the gyre's

had a icecap on a previous tank and didnt care for it. was loud and created microbubbles ( not even close to the surface)
and seemed like if you didnt put them together just right the noise and stuff wouldnt go away

No it does not blow the sand around, but it does keep the sand bed clean! I have only taken my gyres apart to clean twice and have not had any issues with noise. I do see some complaints here about the noise though.
