Waves and Tank Stress

Fact or Fiction?

I've always heard that waves cause stress on seams and can lead to tank failure.
That is a fact. You will want to check with the tank manufacturer if your tank is designed for use with a wave maker.

Id say fact but ive never heard any post their wavebox broke their tank

I know in the instruction manual with my Gyre 150 it states that it is possible to damage the tank with excessive pressures caused by the wavemaker......

Me either, but I think it's possible that those people may not have known that was the cause of seam failure.
It is also unlikely that a 1" wave will do any harm, either. You start getting into 2" or 3" waves and there are some very high forces involved.
