I had these waving hands for about 5 months
I bought a Large rock with dang near 100 of em... they since have shrunk significantly and some seem to be dying off.

This may sound like a silly question. But would small fluctuations in SG be the cause.
I mean like 1.024 to 1.022 or 1.023...

If you're speaking of Xenia, then it could be any number of issues from lighting to water chemistry. I doubt those subtle changes in SG would cause chronic die off. Of course consistency is better but any number of things can affect Xenia.

I wouldn't call it a chronic die off. They are just alot smaller then when first added to the tank... my clown pair love them and play in them all the time so I just want to make sure I keep them healthy

I have Xenia that grow taller in some spots and stay short in others. They seem pretty good at adapting to flow/lighting situations. In some spots they pop up and then vanish.
