So I just filled my tank about a week ago. all it has is the Carib Sea Live Sand, Carib Sea Life Rock and Marco Rock and I have not added any bacteria or ammonia or anything else to it so far. Today I noticed what looks like Diatoms on the sand, rock and my powerhead.

Here are pics:

What is this and should I be worried???

No worries. New tank and it will change over time. There is no set time table for tank growth

I always though that Diatoms and Algae didn't start growing until after the cycle completed and were a sign that the tank was cycled. I have never had this happen before the cycle completed in any of the tanks I have setup so far and was just worried.

On a side note: does this mean that I am in for a huge algae bloom since it's starting so soon?
