Wayne’s Red Sea Reefer 650 Peninsula

I'm pretty surprised at the low numbers coming out of those 26s, especially considering there should be overlap between them too. How high are they off the water? Was the test done with the covers on the tank? I assume this is at 100%, but not with all channels on max?

I built my own LEDs, but raising them just an inch made a pretty big difference in PAR (-100), so lowering them might be another thing to try?
I ended up lowering the light rack a few inches, they were at 11in and now they sit at 9 inches off the water. I did remove the top screen so I could get the apogee biotek 3000 par meter down into the tank.

I was surprised as well at the par readings, to the point that I reloaded the default configuration for the par meter and then recalibrated only to get the same results.

Just remembered this video:

They got an average of 152 with 4 Prime HDs at 18", with readings ranging from 150-170 except the back glass, which isn't a factor for you. That's 50% less power than your lights. I'm not an expert on the Non-HD Hydras, but something seems off? The test with 8 Primes should be closer to what you have, which has _much_ higher PAR.

I hope I'm not being a pest posting all this in your thread...

Hi I will install my tank today. Can you tell me how you got the glas on the cabinet. Do you have pictures how you carried it?

You peninsula tank people make me jealous! One day, ONE DAY!!!

I know you already bought the Hydras, but why not a T5/LED hybrid? I think cost would be about the same.

There were 4 of us that moved the tank inside the house and onto the stand. Since I had the bar already in place, we used commercial suction cups to make it easier to set it into place on the stand. Just be careful not to set the overflow down on a flat surface so you don't damage the bulkhead connections on the bottom.

I seriously thought about this. I did a hybrid led/t5 setup on my last tank, the only thing I wasn't really fond of was the light bleed into the living room on the tank. With this tank being almost right against the couch, I think the light bleed would have been more intrusive.

On a side note, I started swapping out some of the lights last night to the hydra 52 hd's and boy are those a pain to connect when your wireless access point is up stairs in a control box. I'm now looking at getting an extender, or setting up a mesh network in the house and setting a WAP next to the tank.

I had an issue with the Hydras connecting as well, but all works well if you just take all the lights, connect them whilst near the router, install them and then configure them. Mine worked just fine using this method. You can also connect to the lights locally without ever connecting them to the cloud. In the end, I still have to concede and agree that it’s too much of a pain given their price points.

I have the exact same issue with the door on the left...sits a bit higher than the others...drives me crazy!

What materials did you use to build the pedestal?
I used 2x4's that I cut down to 1.5" x 3". I put a piece of 3/4" birch plywood on top and poplar to on the sides to cover the cut 2x4's. The weight of the tank sits directly over the 2x4's and plywood. The poplar is just cosmetic siding. All was primed and then painted with a high gloss acrylic paint.

Can i be a pain in the **** . can you tell me the overall dimensions of your sump . I am looking to buy one but would love swap out the sump for a synenergy ..

Thanks

Just a quick update, I've been hands off the tank while focusing on new projects in the house as well as growing my business. I wasn't necessarily quick on adjusting the dosers to compensate for it's alk needs. Coupled with me still trying to ramp up the lights from the new hydra 52s, the tank didn't progress. As I've made changes the last few months, the tank is really turning around and is finally settling in.

Only one fish issue I had to deal with. My yellow fin flasher wrasse started harassing my female flame wrasse. This progressed to the point that I saw it continually biting the flame wrasse when the wrasse was in it's shelter. I quickly removed the flasher wrasse and it's in the sump for now until I find it another home. This happened 2 weeks ago, the flame wrasse is doing well and all the tank mates are playing well with each other.

Quick full tank shots and one with the flame wrasse. Corals are still looking like frags, but some of the colonies and growing fast.

Today I was able to get the tank on the stand. I wasn't able to do much else since we spent most of the day at the public aquarium and our club did a behind the scenes tour afterwards.

Here's a few pics of it on the stand. I need to adjust the leveling feet and caulk the inside and add a polyacrylic coat to the bottom.

Hi Kresdfw,
You really have a nice set up there. I recently purchased my P500 and wonder if you can share with me which kind/brand of caulking did you use and also same for polyacrylic and how did you apply it.
Thanks
