I originally had this tank setup in my fish room as a frag tank but this tank is to sexy for that. So I moved the tank into my living room next to my 500 gallon display tank.

Equipment:
109 Gallon Reef Saavy Tank
Dimensions - 50"L x 28"W x 21"H
Sump - 30"L x 11"W x 16th
Return Pump - Given to me by a friend.
Protein Skimmer - Not chosen yet but my choice is either Eshopps or Reef Octopus
Wave makers - 2 Jebao RW 15s
Lightning - Definitely LEDS but don't know yet.
If I forget anything I will probably add it later.

Of course it didn't happen without pics so here we go.

And a pic of the sump.

As for what I want to do with the tank, I don't know. Right now I'm doing a fish less cycle and once the cycle is complete I will perform a 100% water change and begin stocking from there.

Thank you everyone and let's reef on.

Well very nice tank. Is this a phantom bottom? I love the two island approach. I have a 48" that I'd like to do the exact same thing with but I don't think my tank is big enough to pull that off. Mind if I ask how much space you have between the islands and how big each island is? Any idea how much rock you used for that?

This has the Phantom bottom. I have about 12 inches in between the front and maybe 6 inches in the back. The right side is 6 - 8 inches high and the left is 15 - 16 inches high. I'll have to measure to confirm.

Are you going to float a canopy or hand the lights off an arm? Since you have two islands you can throw a Radion on top of each and not have to worry about lighting the whole tank up with radions. That would look pretty sweet I think.

The lights will be hanging off an arm.

I love the look, I have to thank my wife for refusing me to hang anything from the walls.

Great looking tank so far. I wouldn't do 100% water change, you're going to throw off the biological balance once you've cycled. Do 40%-50% at most.
Depending on the final count for nitrates will depend on the water change. Thanks, I appreciate the help.

After about a few weeks of looking at the tank I got some rock and decided to change my aquascape. What do you guys and gals think?

Well the tank has been running officially for 30 days. Here are the current readings.
Calcium 320 ppm
Magnesium 1440 ppm
Alkalinity 7.39 dKh
Nitrate between 10 - 25 ppms (hard to read.)
Phosphates .41 ppms

Thoughts or ideas?

I guess if you can have a 500 gallon display, you can have a 109 gallon Reef Savvy frag tank! :-) But, your are right. Those tanks are too sexy to be used for anything but a display. I have a 120 on order and enjoy following other Reef Savvy builds. So, I am along for the ride to see this one mature. Looks great so far.

Thank you for the compliment. I could make my 500 gallon a frag system.
