I have a 4 stage refugium (Eshopps r-200 gen 3) The 3rd chamber houses my protein skimmer (which is a micro bubble factory) and the 4th right after it is the return.

My question is, is there a know method(s) to reduce micro bubbles from getting back into the tank?

I have my sump set up in 3 stages Like so..... return and protein skimmer|| refugium|| return, where the || are staggered walls . By the time the water gets to my return pump, there are no bubbles left

Yeah, I think I might need to do a piece of tupperware with holes in front of the return or something to try to catch them because I cant really change mine from being in the 3rd stage

I know people put a filter sock on the outlet of their protein skimmer to reduce the microbubbles. Might be something to try.

I do this! Works like a charm!

I always fit the skimmer in the first chamber...even if you have to break the baffles.
This is tempting for sure but I really like the filter sock overflow design the eshopps r-200 gen3 has in the first chamber. Sadly... I have 0 micro bubbles in in my refugium (second stage).. billions in my main tank.

That sump appears to be badly designed...lets see...

What if you add a bubble mesh sheet under the 2nd chamber?

The little return vent from Chamber 3 to Chamber 4 is what I'm talking about. From 1 to 3 seems to be perfectly fine. If I cut up chamber 1, I'd probably have microbuble in the refugium section.

The easiest fix would be to add a micro bubble sheet in front of that vent that goes from chamber 4-3. As for your skimmer, you can use a piece of the bubble mesh for the outlet.

I have the same sump and the same problem did you ever figure out how to fix the issue

My skimmer/sump water hight needed adjusted to reduce the amount of bubbles coming out. Originally I raised my skimmer to help and because of potential overflow concerns in a power outage I ended up reducing the total water level in my system to lower the water level in the sump (I also took the stand out that the skimmer was on when I did that)

Hope that helps.

How did you combat this issue? Same sump my bubbles are coming from the fuge grate thwt drains into the return chamber water keeps splashing down from those slits
