Hey everybody. I was adding some phytoplankton to my tank tonight and opened my tank lid totally forgetting I had a bottle of phytofeast on it. Well it fell over and dumped most of the bottle into my tank. Whats the best course of action? Im already heating water for a water change but is there anything else I should do to prevent an ammonia spike?

The tank is 75 gallons. I would assume the phytofeast is dense in nutrients and a whole bottle could cause an issue but maybe I am wrong.

Skimmer will pull most of the excess out and the rest will settle. You'll see the glass get green and that's about it....oh corals will love it.

If you're really worried a large water change is good.

Phyto is said to drop nitrates so if you recently tested nitrates this would be a great opportunity to test in a couple hours and see if they affected the nitrates.

Interesting. I'll test and get back on that.
