Ahoy reefers,

Not much to report on the equipment side. The MP40s had the wrong shim on and started moving a bit so I changed those out and problem solved.

I got a bunch of mini colonies from one LFS here in town and my buddy who owns the other got me some Fiji maricultured pieces.

I ended up changing the rock scape a little bit but not as drastically as I thought I would.

Another quick update. I had all of my dosing lines (24 hr kalk drip, 2 part ESV and magnesium) all going to the return pump and probe section…. I was noticing pH spikes on the hydros so I decided to run all of my lines to the other end of the sump to the high flow area that goes to the filter socks. PH has been deadly stable since and I’m seeing way less buildup and crud on the glass and dosing line tips. I’d recommend this small improvement to anyone currently dosing to their return pump chamber.

Ahoy reefers,

so I can't keep up with the ALK demand on this tank. I'm on a continuous drip of Kalk (4.0ml/min) and dosing 135 ml of ESV 2 part daily. It dropped all the way down to 4.6 in a week. I've been bringing it back up slowly but man it's gonna cost me if I keep dosing ESV at this rate and I can't do more Kalk because I'm matching my evaporation rate.

I've gone through a few iterations with my fish list with some changes due to some jumpers and some losses so here is an updated stocking list on my fish:

Springeri Damsel
Azure damsel
Clownfish x4 (I'll be rehoming 2 to make room for some other fish)
5 green chromis
Yellow wrasse
Blue eye Kole tank
Desjardini tang
Foxface

I've ordered an ember blenny, two fairy wrasses and a anampses twistii (notoriously difficult fish I know but I couldn't help myself).

I'm also looking to add few more herbivores over time.

What do you all think? Should I supplement my ESV dosing with bulk 2 part or try a calcium reactor (I've never run one before).

I'll post up some update pics shortly.

I’d personally recommend a calcium reactor. For this many sticks, it’ll pay for itself in a few years.
