Trying to figure out how to get my WD frag to show the rainbow of colors typical of the corals. My frag is @1" under a par of @250-300(XR30 G.3 Pro/T5 UV), mod flow and nsw water chemistry. Has been in my tank for@ 5 weeks.
Thx

It takes time. Mine is starting to get pinks in it. I got it sometime this spring.

Use of photo lab as you can shop it.
No kidding, I was one of the first that had a nice frag from Biggar and I think I know SPS but I never ever had his colors.
Tried for three years even with the same LED's he has but no success.
I gave my colony up for auction last year for the R2R Toys for Kids.

Got a pic?

Not a great pic, phone camera, but you get the idea. All green. Fighting algae again:mad:

I remember when this was released, and was amazed by the colors.

Then realized that the common factor of the rainbow was vendor photos. Biggest issue with buying online.

Like when Jason Fox released the HW, and the guy reposted the pic after removing all the editing...biiiig difference. The mods removed the reposted photo faster than I could refresh the page and it sold for 1500.

I hope you figure out how to get the colors out of it, because I'd love to see an awesome hobbyist photo!

I was looking @Diesel post about his WD, and that sparked interest:rolleyes: and I searched on the line:D Man this is on my corals to get list.

You can see the progression of my WD in the link below. It is green with pink in the base and lavender colored tips. Some polyps are green and others are yellow. It's not as vivid as some of the vendor photos but it pops more than most of my other acros. I have three Kessil 360 WE at 50% color and 90% intensity with 4 T5 retrofits. The T5 are 2 KZ Coral Light II, 1 KZ Fiji Purple and 1 ATI Blue Plus. The WD is about 8 inches below the surface and directly under a Kessil. My advice is to be patient and keep all parameters, including lighting, consistent.

I have to look for that picture as it been a while.
Maybe you see it on that auction thread.

I have a small frag as well. Im running 250 watt radium with T5 blues at the moment. I have mine in low light.

Here are two "true to the eye" photos of a WD frag I just sold. One is under 20k radium halide, the other is under blue and UV lighting only. No heavy photoshop magic here. For those who buy my coral they will attest my photos are true to what you see. This coral shows its true beauty under heavy blue/UV/actinic as it has a lot of fluorescent pigment.

Here is mine all blue shot and whites with about 30% blues no filters ..cell phone pic.. so not the best pic ..I started from a 1 inch frag .. it takes time at least a solid 6 months for it to start really coloring up .. it is a fast grower .. for the last 2 months I changed my lighting to increase the blue light period and definitely noticed a difference in color .

I had one that colored right up under radium metal halide. Unfortunately I lost it during hurricane Irma. But a little more par may make the difference.

What lighting?
36in tank.
3-Kessil A360we's down the middle. The 2 outer ones angled inwards.
Two T5 bulbs in front of and two T5 bulbs behind the Kessils. 4-T5's total
ATI Blue+ x2
ATI Purple+ x1
ATI Coral+ x1

I call is lightzilla. lol

Mine took a long long time before showing any desirable colors but it’s one of the faster growing acros in my tank. It’s never going to look amazing under white lights. I put on my actinic lights and my orange sunglasses and just gaze at my sticks. I can’t seem to get a good photo though...

Cranked the reefbrites to 100% to take this photo. T5s off. White balanced on the camera. It “looks” like this but a lot of the rainbow comes out better on the camera. When you stare at it you can see the polyps are rainbow but mostly yellow and the pinks pop up at certain angles.
