we have babies! dwarf cuttlefish

One of my distributor friends came across a few of the flamboyant cuttlefish and even at his price I couldn't afford them at $400 a pop I would give my back teeth for a pair . I'm quite sure I could get a few generations out of it ; )

The ones you have stay little which is good. The flamboyants are very hard to keep alive. My opinion is the should stay in the ocean because of that. But I know that unless someone keeps trying to figure out there needs we want be able to keep them. If you ever get to many eggs and would like to donate one or two please let my know. I would love to try to keep them but the money and would buy some but what money I have goes into keeping my tank stable right now. I love that there is someone that is keeping these guys on here. Congrats again.

As of right now all eggs have hatched when they become able to breed I will let you know they are great and I know I will have to part with a good portion of them if they all make it and breed.

Thanks. I doubt they all will make it because they are little canibels. I have read a lot about them but never new anyone that actually had them. I will be following this thread for sure. Just for knowledge.

Waiting for live mysis in the mail, gonna go to the store and get live adult brine to settle in the meantime

Mysis have arrived babies are hunting them already . Were stoked, wish we could culture mysis to keep from having that problem of not being able to find them anywhere.

Yea mysis are hard to culture, I have tried, If Remember correctly they are cannibals. One thing with mysis is like anything else you need to enrich them, give them food. If you mail ordered them they are probably hungry and are less nutritious. There are actually not too hard to find nowadays. Good luck it must be exciting.

Yes very excited, hoping to be able to keep them long enough to ween onto frozen. Of course I will be treating them with live food when possible love to keep things to their natural food source. Not to mention watching them hunt live prey is so cool.

Oh, Brine shrimp is has show to not be a good food long term (many reports of cuttles failing to thrive when being fed Artemia), so the mysis are better. :D

That was written terribly! 'Brine shrimp has shown to...'

Wow! Always something new to try in the hobby. Good luck with your babies, I will be keeping track of this thread.

They really liked the newborn guppies and mollies. I just love watching these guys eat. They seem to be growing personalities over the past fee days, haven't gotten much bigger but a noticeable change since hatching.

They turn like a maroon, tan , white, and almost like a black its way crazy. Occasionally we get little black ink clouds but they are an easy clean up
