i weigh my saltmix before adding it to water ,i find this faster and takes alot of guessing out of my salinity
mix my salinity at 1.025

with the saltmix i use it takes 617grams to make 4 gallons of saltwater

im curious what other saltmix's weigh in at

vic

it all depends on brand, I use ESV 4 part and love it. My mix is for 1 us gal as follows.

8.16lbs of r/o di, 91g of Sodium Chloride, 25g of Mg Sulfate, then 49g of liquid component A, and 21g of component B.

That is GENIUS! I love that idea! LOL!

We weigh our salt too but we also use red sea coral pro. :) my hubby has got it down to an exact science. Lol

I normally use half cup to one gallon and i come out with a sg of 1.025 using neomarine by brightwell

I weigh my salt too using a digital shipping scale. To get 1.025 salinity (34ppt) I mix 15 ounces of DD salt with 3 gallons of DI water. For the most part it's pretty consistent, but sometimes it would vary by .001

Funny story about weighing salt on a digital scale. I was in the middle of mixing up saltwater and the cable guy came to fix my cable. I didn't even think of how bad it looked and just let him in. Let's just say he did a triple take of the digital scale with a cup of white powder on it. He seemed kind of nervous till I explained it to him.
