I was deciding between a 75 or 100 gallon tank probably with a 30 or 40 gallon sump and was going to put it on the second floor. Is this a good idea?

There are way too many factors involved to give you a guess. Load bearing wall? Perpindicular to floor joists? Age of home? Type of construction? etc etc etc.

Generally speaking, something in the 70-100g range shouldn't be a problem in most homes.

Your mileage may vary.

thanks
