I am setting up my first tank. It is a used 75 gal. The original owner had his return coming from the circled part. I replumbed in order to facilitate an emergency drain. I have relocated the return. I am left with this notch. There is an identical one on the other side. It has a cover that snaps in. Can someone point me in the direction of where to get this peice, what it's called, or a diy resolution. I fear a port that large with be problematic.

I did the same thing to my used 75g tank... converted the original return to an emergency drain. The gap won't be an issue... I've had a few snails use it a an entry point into the overflow, but no problems with that occurring.

I had the same issue. I just cut a thin piece of black acrylic to as close to the size of the cutout as possible. I then superglued it in place. Worked great and still holding fine 3 years later.

Go to a hardware store, that has one of those big hardware assortments, in the multiple drawers. Get either a Plastic or Rubber Snap in Panel Plug. If you can‘t find it there, check out McMaster-Carr.

You could also get a small piece of acrylic or plexiglass and glue it in the opening. Could use a heatgun or hair dryer to heat the patch piece up and bend to fit the curve.
