Is it weird that my sps tank all the sudden hasn’t absorbed any calcium in the last week, only 0.5 dKH a day but has started absorbing mag and potassium like crazy?

Is that calcium or alkalinity that's slowed down?

Water pramameter imbalance? Corals sometimes go through slow growth periods.

how much of a MAG change have you seen? maybe faulty test kit or user error possibly? recent batch change on salt maybe test fresh saltwater mix to see if levels are ok?

I doubt it. Salifert has been pretty solid. The mag has always been around 1350 with daily dosing and a weekly test. I tested Sunday and it had dropped to 1250. So adjusted and retested to get it back to 1350. Tested everything today out of boredom and it was 1200. So I added some more and now it’s back to 1350. I just don’t know why all the sudden the demand has gone up on mag and potassium but the cal and alk has gone down

I would bet your test kits are off. I have had issues just like that with salifert mag and potassium after a year or two. I keep them clean and closed well and try not to let them sit for long periods. Unless this is a new tank, mag can be used up quickly when a new tank is added to a system or a new ones is set up.

Tank isn’t new but I recently switched to a basic zeovit set up. I just checked potassium with an elos test, which I hate bc it’s very difficult to read, but I tested somewhere between 400 and 500, salifert is reading 380. I checked the mag with a Red Sea test and for 1320 and the salifert is reading 1290.
