so i unburried this part of my rock with my mushrooms on it and there was this beautiful colored thing, idk it could be a sponge of some kind... anybody see this before?

Thats such catch 22, so cool to look at but will probably not do well above the sand. May be a sponge.

yea i didnt think so, is it the light that eventually melts it away? and i have yet to see a mouth, ill move it super close to the glass and post another pic or 2 tomorrow..

Very cool looking. Reminds me of this neon pink stuff I find on rocks occasionally when I pull them out from under then sand. Never seen those colors before. Wonder what it is.

That looks very cool. There is a very good chance that it's a sponge. You get all sorts growing in the dark areas of your tank.

It is a type of algae I'm pretty sure. I have the same thing in my tank and it spreads like Coraline will. If you shade it or try and glue frags to it it turns kinda fluorescent orange.

not sure what it is, especially being buried actually UNDER the sand (if I read right?) Very cool though, if you can find it's ideal conditions and get it to grow, that'd be even more awesome.

i have some different kinds of that plating algae, and thats exactly how it looks like its growing.. i placed it back into a cave and im going to check on it in a couple of weeks..
