weird cotton like layer all over dry base rock and deco

Dont know where to post this question but I am new to SW I recently inherited a 120 gallon fish only system with dry ase rock but on the base rock I noticed a white cotton like layer over all the surface of the rock...would anyone know what it is sorry for the pics as all I have is my phone to take the pics A

It's a type of bacterial film. How long has your tank been set up? Did you pre-mix your salt, or dump it straight in?

How old is your tank? It's a bacteria bloom and it should go away on its own.

It's called Mulm. It grows when you overdose a carbon source with a bacterial additive. It can also grow without a bacterial additive. The "Cotton Like" stuff is very common in the start up of ZEO tanks. It will go away with time as long as you cut back on the carbon source.

Had that on a tank I setup several years ago. As stated it will go away on its own nothing to worry about.

The tank itself has been up and running for seven years I just recently inherited it...an old couple gave it to ne cuz they couldnt take care of it anymore so I called a lfs and they moved it set everything up then bleached everything cuz there was a crazy hair algae problem...but thank you for your help I do appreciate it
