I will get the Salifert testing kit. I have the api phosphate test and it reads 0 but that could be inaccurate or the alage is just consuming it also making the test inaccurate.Red pigmented cyano same cure as the green algae on your rocks. You have excess nutrients, most likely phosphate.
Pick up the following a reliable phosphate test
Red sea, nyos, or salifert
Or a hana ulr phosphate checker(best of the 4 options)
A phosphate removal media. Gfo, rowphos etc
Make some saltwater.
Attach a toothbrush with tape to your siphon hose and clean Those rocks.
Add the media
if not using a reactor use phosguard in a media bag) rinse under running water. Replace every 3 days or so.
Repeat rock cleaning at least once a week.
Test your phosphates every time you replace the media or weekly with gfo. You want to be under .1ppm without any peaks over that. I like to shoot for a goal of .02-.07 ppm to stay on the safe side.
So the cyano has taken off like crazy. I am running phosgaurd in my intank media basket and my phosphate testing kit reads 0. I am not sure what is going on.For salifert i found the easiest reading done in sunlight or ~3000k bulb but this might just be me trying to read shades of blue.
