Weird dust on aquarium glass

Hey everyone. So the last 2 weeks I have been getting a pinkish dust on my glass. Literally I have to clean my glass every day multiple times a day. I will wipe it and a few hours later its back I did a good water change yesterday and a gravel vac and still its back. I included a video to show it the best I could. Any info would be great thanks!

When you wipe the algae off with an algae magnet or scraper you're just repositioning it to someplace else in the system. Some, or a lot, depending on method used, will land back on the glass and keep growing. I use paper towels to remove the algae completely from the system. Keep in mind this process will still leave algae in the system so it will need to be repeated. In my experience it can take multiple weekly sessions, depending water conditions, to reduce the algae growth significantly. I prefer the blue paper shop towels you can get at auto parts stores but any good paper towel will work.

Definitely diatoms. It’s normal and it will pass. Just keep up with glass cleaning and do 1, 5% water once a week. Add nopox as wel for you p04 and N03

I'd recommend 10% water change every week over a 5%. Also, are you using RO/DI filtered water? In the beginning, running your lights for shorter periods helps this not build up as much. This algae is diatoms, and diatoms consume silicates. If you have an over abundance of silica in your water source even after RO/DI, I'd recommend silica buster by spectra pure. If you don't have an RO/DI water filter, or a source to buy that grade of filtered water, that is your first steps.

This is one of the most important parts of keeping a healthy reef aquarium. Where your water comes from is the foundation of the ecosystem you're building. You want it to be as pure as possible.
