My hammer corals gave been exhibiting strange behavior with their center area open. I also have fish in the tank and feed Coral mixes so I think they're well fed. Does anyone have any clues what may be going on?

How long have you had them?
Did you match the salinity, etc - when you transferred them to your tank?

Definitely telling you that it is unhappy. that hole is where the mouth is. Could be a number of factors. Too much light, too much flow, flatworms. As long as it doesnt stay that way too long..it is actually normal.

Thank you for the reply.
Have had my tank for 2 years.
These new corals for 2 weeks
Salinity at 1.025 - Coral place (Cherry Corals) say they run it around 1.026.

Thank you!! I'm going to bring down my flow even more than it is. I recently moved my power heads down a little bit and put on a diffuser instead of the normal MP40 head so the lower area of my tank would be getting more flow. I will bring it down a notch and see how they react. Thank you very much for your time I appreciate it!!

They seem pretty 'normal' for 2 weeks' - depending on how they were acclimated. ?
