I worry about it because I don't recall seeing it on my previous builds. The steel stand is topped with 3/4" plywood and a 1/4" mat that came with the tank. I'm wondering if the mat should have been thicker. I also had a small gap, maybe 1/16" with the tank dry on the stand. I filled the tank 1/4 of the way full and cranked up the low corner of the tank stand. The stand gave a bit and the gap was gone, but it has me slightly concerned still.

As a physics student, im just thinking of how light is interacting with your glass. Have you tried using a different light + in a different location? Maybe the light is bouncing off and refracting in a symmetrical way such that you get that light bar. Otherwise I think that black border has something to do with it.

I have a reefer 250, the front glass is unsupported, since its flush with the doors. The light definitely shines down through the glass and out the bottom of the front pane. Whether this is an issue for your tank I cant say..
Your second pic looks a lot like my tank does with the doors closed.

That's reassuring. Thank you. I've had a few buddies tell me the same.

I've got the same around the bottom of my rimless/frameless 150g. I believe initially I inquired with the manufacturer, who said it was not an issue. Tank has been up for a year problem free. I don't worry about it anymore. Probably, all tanks would look that way if the bottom trim/frame was removed.

I think you're right. The edges are polished at an angle so i think it is throwing the light light out towards me.

Thanks for the input everyone. Puts my mind at ease about it.
