Hello!

We have a couple things that I have diagnosed as being limpets in our 29 gallon tank. They eat algae and are great! Here is a picture of one being normal next to a bumblebee snail.

Today I looked in and found THIS bizarre thing happening!

What in the world! Is this how they change shells or something? Like when you hold a towel up to change into your bathing suit at the beach? It's nuts! AND I went back and looked at the tank like 5-10 minutes later, and the whole thing was no where to be seen.

Can anyone solve this mystery? Thanks in advance!

Limpets have a mantle that covers their shell when out and about. The 1st limpet is covered in cyanobacteria, the red stuff. The second limpet looks like a different limpet.

Yeah, that cyanobacteria is annoying. It's all over the place. And yes, it is likely a different limpet with the thing on it. There are at least 3 (probably more like 5 or 6 I think) limpets (or at least I think they're limpets) in the tank, but I've never seen them running around with a beige Snuggie on before today!
