I noticed something, or have been noticing something this week. With this species ostreopsis, it does not get on a particular piece of rock. Most of my tank is that crappy liferock but I did buy a large chunk of rock from Petco that is coated with pink and purple corraline algae. On that particular rock the only time I see dinoflagellates is when it gets kicked off a powerhead and hangs on the side of the rock. My back glass is covered and wherever light his the subtrate, it gets a nice brown film. This particular rock seems immune to it though. Something I noticed today though is a lessening. I would dare to say maybe some parts are turning white or clear and my tank is looking better? My measures may be working but i do not want to declare early victory.

How long has the system been up and running?

Interesting observation... this will be something to watch over a longer period of time to see how it progresses. The pink rock I've seen at petco is usually the manmade stuff.

But, you could clear that tank of ostreopsis dinos in about 72hrs to 1 week with a correctly sized UV system.

It may had been at one time, but that rock had a ton of life on it. It could had been painted artificially, but what is presently on it is real coralline. The tank was setup since January. I purchased it a few weeks ago, since then I have been adding live rock from various sources, the latest is KP aquatics live rock.
