Weird octopus looking weird scary critter id

Friend or foe? I found this think going around the front of my tank and got him out and into a specimen cup. He has like a ton of tentacles and a long body..

I had something similar in my 29 gal years ago. It sat in a hole in a rock and it’s tentacles would stretch out and grab food throughout the tank. It never came out of its hole. It never hurt anything in my tank and one day just disappeared. Fun to watch. But in my opinion better safe then sorry.
