Is it hard, stiff like leather or really soft? First picture kinda looks like a clam but the second looks like a tunicate, which would feel kinda leathery. If it's really soft it's prbably a sponge.

I'm inclined to think you may have both - the first pic looks like a bivalve of some kind (the dark spot) with sponges or tunicates growing off of it (the translucent and white little spouts sticking off of the bivalve shell), and the orangish, fleshy mass looks like a solitary tunicate species to me.
 
Looks like a bivalve to me. I usually follow this;
“when in doubt take it out” -someone

I think you are right. Thinking the shell animal is an abalone? The orange is a tunicate. Sea squirt. Finally ... interesting hitchhikers.

Abalones are sea snails that would move around, so I'd guess it's probably a mussel or oyster of some kind.
