Thanks! Iam wondering g if I have both going onIs it hard, stiff like leather or really soft? First picture kinda looks like a clam but the second looks like a tunicate, which would feel kinda leathery. If it's really soft it's prbably a sponge.
I'm inclined to think you may have both - the first pic looks like a bivalve of some kind (the dark spot) with sponges or tunicates growing off of it (the translucent and white little spouts sticking off of the bivalve shell), and the orangish, fleshy mass looks like a solitary tunicate species to me.Thanks! I think you are right. Thinking the shell animal is an abalone? The orange is a tunicate. Sea squirt. Finally ... interesting hitchhikers.I'm inclined to think you may have both - the first pic looks like a bivalve of some kind (the dark spot) with sponges or tunicates growing off of it (the translucent and white little spouts sticking off of the bivalve shell), and the orangish, fleshy mass looks like a solitary tunicate species to me.
Abalones are sea snails that would move around, so I'd guess it's probably a mussel or oyster of some kind. After some looking. I am wondering of the shelled animal is an abalone?
