Weird purple spots

I’ve had this Japanese toadstool for a solid 7 months or so. I just now noticed these spots at the base. Any idea what it is? I noticed only because coral closed up due to my torch touching it.

You've got me. Any chance you could post the same photo with a yellow or orange filter? They almost look like polyps.

Its hard to say but it could be some kind of sponge or Tunicate
Very interesting its seems so uniform.

Agreed. Possibly an incrusting coral. Toadstool bases can become pretty tough.
