Weird results with Red Sea Pro test kit

I'm also having odd results with the Red Sea test kit for alk. Mine is reading 14. I've written to Red Sea. My calcium and magnesium are fine.

That may very well be your problem. I found there was a large difference when calibrating to 0 compared to 35ppt. I realise the manufacturer recommends calibrating to 0. With instruments they are usually calibrated in the range you are testing in. A small difference at 0 would be multiplied greatly further up the scale.

I got some accurasea on Amazon. Relatively cheap and should last you pretty much forever
Wait so do I still use RODI water and set it to 35ppt?

Did you get a response from them?

They have a base test reagent which tests the KH test kite. I've asked them to send it to me, so I can test

Have you checked the expiration date on the boxes?

No....you need to get a calibration fluid that is 35ppt.

I Think I found it on the bottom of the box on the left corner. It says exp. 02/20, so I would assume that it expires in 2020 right?
