I’ve not witnessed this before so I’m asking what’s going on with this mushy , splitting?

It’s totally sketchy , it’s mouth disappeared which is already a hole but I’ve never “ melted” one before or witnessed one splitting like this
I’ve caught the odd asterina I’ve seen and sunped not sure of any other predators though
