So I've got a Bubble Magus curve 5 on my 56 gal column mixed reef with a 75 gal diy sump in the basement. Have had it for a few years and always worked well. Yesterday I noticed it pushing way more skimate up and overflowing the collection cup. It is adjusted all the way down and still skimming too wet and overflowing. The only recent changes I've made to my set up that I can think of is adding Carbon/ GFO reactors, and adding several frags to the display. When adding the frags the only thing I did different is using some JB water weld epoxy. What do you think could be going on here?

Welcome to R2R!

as said above, likely something in the epoxy the skimmer doesnt like. Best bet is to dump out the overflow and add in fresh saltwater until the skimmer calms down :)

I added the frags Tuesday. Would the skimmer still be going nuts from the epoxy 3 days later?
Depends, have you been dumping the overflowing skimme cup back into the tank or disposing of it?

Welcome aboard! :D

I dumped it back into the tank because it was really just tank water
That is likely why, you're not removing from the system whatever the skimmer doesnt like. Skim as dry as you can and remove it and replace with fresh saltwater until the skimmer calms down :)

I just raised the skimmer about 3/4 and am skimming as dry as I can. I will dump whatever I collect. Hopefully this gets rid of whatever chemical my skimmer doesn't like. I had seen people saying this epoxy was OK to use, but have to admit it was kinda old. will report back in a day or 2. Thank you for the advice!!!

Welcome to Reef 2 Reef.

If you can / choke off / the air in-take, and lower the water level, it may help to thicken up the skimmate.
It's got to be the epoxy as the others have stated.

FWIW:
Cleamiclean will make a skimmer go nutz... ;Wacky too.

Start with the intake to assure no foreign matter. It appears it may be skimmer adjustment too high leaching the skim-mate back into sump or too much air entering inlet or chamber. Lastly- how high is your skimmer area water level?
