Please help!
My boyfriend is the one who does everything for the tank but he isn’t home nor is he answering my calls. He recently was messing with the sump and it just started making weird sounds and it’s spitting out clouds of nastiness into the tank intermittently. Not sure what I should do, please help me :-(

Look in the return chamber of the sump where the pump sits? Is the water above the recommended minimum water level? (about two inches from the top of the pump. If its not, and you have RO water handy pour just enough in to reach that minimum water level. That should help.

Thank you, but IDK what the proper water level should be + he just made a bunch of modifications to the sump so it's not the same as how it comes from Red Sea. Do you think it'd be ok if I just left it alone until he gets home in about an hour? I don't want to screw anything up.

The video isn’t working for me.

It should be fine in an hour. If the pump is not completely submerged in the water, it will make a loud gurgling sound and spew microbubbles (that's what it looks like in the video) from the return. IF it is that, it could stall the pump.

If its an hour- it can hang on. You Can add a little water if top of pump is not under the water. Then it would be making a racket

you don't want to add too much fresh RO water. I don't know how big this tank is and too much could cause a dangerous drop in salinity.

Thank you everyone, I heard from my boyfriend and I think you all were right about just needing to add some water. I'm gonna wait til he gets home so he can fix it and that way I can't **** anything up. ;Dead

I know I am late to the party but mark a line on the sump so everyone knows where the water level should be. I have one on my tank so all it takes a quick look to see if the ATO is doing its job.
