I just noticed this spot on my foxface today, there is no change in his behaviour. Still eating well and swimming lots. I added a white tail bristletooth tang two weeks ago and they seem to be getting along really good, the tang just follows the foxface around but maybe this could be from the tang and I missed it? I appreciate any help I get

Typical issue with rabbits and is a puncture wound either from an urchin or tail strike injury from tang which is not abnormal with a tang and rabbit together. Keep an eye on it for healing and not becoming infected and will not take 4-6 weeks but several days.

What should I be looking out for to know if it’s infected? Also should I add selcon to the food? I’m in Canada so don’t have access to meds. Do you think it came from the tang?

You will see raw flesh or a widening pattern. It however should heal on its own. For canada- you should have access to Ruby Rally Pro which will work

Thank you so much, I’ll keep watch on the tang and if he doesn’t play nice he will have to go

If you have no urchin - tang yes and is not habitual but a defense. Selcon for immunity system- wont do much for wound

Thank you! I have no urchin so has to be the tang
Good answers so far, sorry about the injury. I feed my fishes chopped whole clams (people food grade) or oysters to give them energy and nutrition to promote their health and immune systems. GL

I’ll check those out, do you just get them at a grocery store?

I do, and I also collect from the beach when I can. Fishes love them, especially off the beach but the supermarket is ok too. We have an Asian fish store that also has shrimp, crab, clams, etc that can be an excellent source for these kinds of items.

Best food for these guys are LFS herbivore diet which contains all seafood, algae and vitamins. Formula 2 frozen, mysis, small plankton and nori basted with garlic also good foods

He is going to be in heaven lol. All different kinds of foods, thank you
Ironically, I think happy fish want to live in their tanks. The health results are impressive, ime. Best of luck with all your fishies. They are going to wish that they had put visible wounds on everyone else once they see how much good food they are going to be eating. Just remember to keep an eye on parameters until you get the hang of the new situation.

Will do for sure. Thank you for all your help

So the spot went away quickly from last time and has now come back. Could it still be agression or something else since it’s in the same spot? I had two flame hawkfish in qt a while back and they had a pimple like thing on their body that also went away and no one could really answer what it was but some thought it could be lymphocystis, is that maybe what this could be? It’s not affect behaviour at all and is healing quickly again, but this one isn’t like a pimple more like a scab

I would lean toward a stress mark. Its weird looking, but these lo's are famous for their discolorations. If its in the same location every time I would start to believe that its normal for this fish. Mine has a look that appears like its covered in death spots. It's always looking like it wants to die, but its fine.
