Weird start to my pico...anyone else see this?

Hi All,
I just started a new pico tank for fun....I decided to try setting it up with different materials. So here is the issue....
I used Carib. Sea aragalive sand....Fiji pink
I used nutri-sea bottled sea water
And set it up with the filtration and lighting that came with the tank (Fluval Evo V)

So it has been cycling and I then added 2 small pieces of live rock from my frag tank 3 blue legs and a sea cucumber for sifting the sand....I now have small tufts of green hair or bryopsis algae starting on the walls - no pattern....just random dots of it....

I have no idea where it is coming from....the live rock has nothing like that on it....I haven't had anything like this in my other tanks and I am not sure where it is coming from....also my top off water is RODI. 1.87 ppb ( yes ppb, it is medical grade water with an rodi system that wouldn't fit in my 2 car garage).
Anyone else have this issue with either Carib sea aragalive or the bottled seawater?


Admittedly, I hav not checked the phosphate level with my Hanna checker...but I would expect it to be very low anyways....I also have not added any carbon to the system yet.

I've read the Fiji pink has got some silicate in the sand. I'd test for that and phosphate.

You do have algae in your tank, you just don't see it.

I think you are fine. it's a new tank and this happens. stay on top of your maintenance, including manual removal and it will be a thing of the past

I had same thing happen to me. It took over my tank in the 3rd or 4th week. I scrubbed the rock. Ran GFO and Carbon and lights out. It was gone in a week. I thing its just a phase new tank goes through. Manual removal and keep eye on it and your parameters.
