My torch has from time to time had this long white string from the base of the coral extend. I attached some picks anyone got any ideas. It's branching hammer.

Is there a vermetid snails on the skeleton ?

Is the string coming out of a tube? Might be a vermetid snail.

I'll do a close inspection tonight, are those snails a danger to any corals?

Some say they inhibit SPS growth. Their little strings can certainly irritate corals.
The population can really explode if you let them. I would crush it asap. Make sure you get the base of it and not just the tube.

And correction. It was my hammer not torch, I was at work when posting this and my head was all over the place
