Weird tentacles inside Porites

I got a Jason Fox Special Porites frag from WWC and went through the dipping procedure using Coral RX. I see two tentacles sticking out. Is this a hitchhiker or part of Porites?

Spionid.

Hard to get rid of. You can try supergluing, but it will probably just tunnel elsewhere.

One of the two. Either way, glue it up. or try to cut it out. Hate those things.

Thanks for the identification. I'll glue it shut and keep a close watch if it emerges elsewhere.

I think for superglue to work you have to keep a close eye on it and reglue once it digs a new hole and eventually starve it out this way.

I just glued the original hole and it popped up right next to it lol I am thinking of getting rid of this frag to prevent it from spreading.

If you are at that point, just frag the thing in half, pull the worm out and you should be good. Or frag a small portion off and regrow.

Fwiw, I don't think spionids spread and takeover like vermetids can, but I'm not entirely certain on how they propagate or how often. WWC definitely has them in their system, I've gotten several frags with spionids from them.

Ok it's good to know that it doesn't spread like Vermetids. I'll cut it in half and try to save the other half.
