Weird yellow watchman goby behavior

Hello fellow reefers, I've noticed for the past two weeks that my watchman Goby would swim to the middle of the tank and just float there for a while. I've had the goby for several months and it would normally stay in its burrow with his pistol shrimp buddy. Is this normal behavior?

Watchman gobbies are wierd. There must be a thousand wierd nutty Watchman post out there. Me personally it's a fish I pass on due to this.

My YWG would swim up and stick to the side of the tank to hang out with my clownfish. I attributed this behavior to outliving his shrimp. They both lived at least a decade and died of old age.,

My ywm swims around all time never hangs in barrows if he's weird

mine sifts sand and dumps on zoas. Hangs out in his burrow than to the middle of the tank to drop sand on zoas.

Maybe he is trying to protect me

With watchman gobies you clearly never know what you’re gonna get

Mine used to do the same. Eventually after a few weeks of being weird...he returned to his burrow on the sandbed. I could literally take my hand and push him down to the sand bed...and it would just swim back up to the top corner.

No fish chasing him...no idea why.
