Hello Hudson Valley reefers. Here to say hi and join in the conversation. Moved from the city to New Hamburg about a year back and brought our 5 year old 40 gallon cube with us, in November upgraded to a 120 sps dominated mixed.

I look forward to following along and hopefully seeing some of your reefs.

Hey, Darryl well good news I think Wife just surprised me with a new setup I was going to do a 75 gallon until my wife's coworker end up selling her 125-gallon setup so going today to look at it. woot

I have a 125. Love it but should have gone with a higher stand cuz the viewing angle is low. 120s are nice, but a smaller footprint

Nice to to find Hudson Valley Reef on R2R. I met you folks a few years back when I started my first tank.

Well, I got the tank and have been rebuilding the stand and lid due to some water damage. so I've been gluing and clamping for 3 days straight.lol, I need to get pictures.

Now’s the time to build that bad boy higher! The increased space inside the stand totally makes up for the head loss on the pump.

On my 46 bow the stand measures 28 inches high . The pro, you can easy reach the bottom. The con, is bending over to observe the bottom .

I had my own stands to be 38 inches tall . One stand is for my 150 fowlr . My other stand spans 12 feet that has three tanks on it. A 65, a 75,and a 90 . I now need a ladder to towards the bottom; it has made my viewing more enjoyable .I also built a stand for my 220,but since it is still sitting not set up yet;not sure as to the height of that stand . I made them so I could fit a 55g sump ,and a 75 gallon sump .

Nice. I'd love to see a pic of that 12 foot stand/tanks. What are you keeping in the 65/75/90?

Personally prefer viewing tanks at a slight angle down, to see the top of the coral rather than bases. Built mine 30 inches, split the difference between space in the cabinet, access inside the tank and preferred viewing angle.

Here is a picture of the stand. I was still in the process of deciding what size tank to put in

the middle . A cube ,a 30L ;or the 65. The stand had to come into the room threw the window.

There are no post in the center. I wanted a total open front .

I used three 12 foot 2x6 glued and screwed together in the front span,then two 12 foot 2x6 in the center span;and a single 12 foot 2x6 that rest on 4x4's on the back.
