Soo this is that ugly stage everybody talks about lol?

Lol I'm away for a week and got my brother's watching my tanks and dogs. Calls me this morning with these pics and I started celebrating. Long story short he was confused lll

Why have you got the filter floss over the pump? Cutting your flow by a whole lot, probably helping to contribute to the cyano.

There's a bta in there. Didn't really cut flow when it was new. But yeah by now I'm sure theres less haha

I like the pre filter cover idea too. Much more porous then my chopped up filter floss

I think I’ve seen anemones get stuck to the pantyhose in some other peoples posts. But it seems to work for most.

I think the one you've suggested is good. Will take a while to get clogged up.

Your brother might be feeding a bit too much as well. I’m not sure, but I don’t think cyano, and possibly dinos by the looks of it, are part of the typical, “don’t worry about it” ugly stage. I could be wrong though, I’m pretty new to this.

Nah I've had him not feeding anything but my african cichlids lol. I was scared my dad and him would do that so they ate a heavy meal before I left. If it's part of the ugliest or just my first cyano or Dino outbreak I'm cool with it cause its new to me so coming home and learning to fight will be fun :)

Tanks almost 2 months now I believe. You can read about my bta experience in my bubble tip thread. Pretty much saved this **** from the decrepit lfs. Long story short he was dying there and about half the size he is now. After having him almost a month he doubled in size and put off a little bud for me which within this week has also nearly doubled in size. I'm very happy with my Lil man so far. And I'm sure he is too considering his growth and the fact that he was white with no bubbling when I got him and now he's as pink as he could be! With longer tentacles and beautiful bubbles on his tips!

I had a little bit of cyano, I tried to increase flow in those areas and cut back feeding a little bit and it seems to be gone for the most part now.

nice!

Is it bad I'm on vacation. Yet I can't wait to get home and create a battle plan. For my new problems lol :)

Could just be the lame stock filter block setup with the evo 13.5. When I get home I'll be removing it and making a new filter system. From what I've read almost all bb grows on the rockwork correct?

it’s on everything really, but optimally the rocks provide enough surface area to support a large enough population to be able to swap out filter components without “restarting” the cycle, or in other words causing an ammonia spike.
