well after a few tries with another nem I went to the lfs and traded for the same type just was playing in a nem at the store as well, and needless to say it worked in getting a clown to host in my bta. Question being the other is a semi Picasso or that's what Petco called it do you think it will follow the other in hosting or am I just out of luck getting them both to host? Can a clownfish be traumatized from a past experience with a nem and not ever try and host again? I would love to learn more about their personalities but I struggle to find some of my questions scrolling threw google. Sorry for the page but I'm excited about my clown finally hosting and am curious about the other

From what I've heard it can take awhile for a clown to host an anemone. So maybe just give it some time.

On an unrelated topic, is that a little stuffed clown fish in your tank to the right of those pictures?

Lol it's one of them glow in the dark decoys I got it in the beginning thinking I could trick them. No success buuut about 4 hrs into this I now successfully have 2 hosting clownfish

I put another so people won't think it's just laying there dead no lie I've been struggling to get this semi Picasso to host for I think a little over a month maybe longer. Swapped my normal oscaleris out with another I seen actually hosting and 4hrs later. Probly the simplest solution to a aggravating scenario I have been doing alot of research trying to figure out why it wouldn't even go in the same area as the anemone I guess it just needed a friend that would

Oh I gotcha lol. Glad that he finally hosted your anemone though!

The larger clown in question appears to be a snowflake ocellaris clown. The semi Picasso clowns that were from ORA were percula's.

Thank you and me too lol it's been pretty frustrating but I guess their like dogs if you can get one to do it the other will follow

I'll see if I can find a better picture of him and maybe you can help me I'd I've been told snowflake before and compared images of both like I said Petco sold it to me as a semi Picasso but it is Petco,

she's the one on the top. The best picture I have sorry I just use my phone

She's got a Mohawk (easiest way I can think to describe it) aswell I don't know if this matters but my smaller clown doesn't have it

Ocellaris clowns typically have 11 spines on top, but on some rare occurances will have 10 like a perc. And the black around the white markings are more pronounced on a perc. The semi Picasso name usually means the middle bar white and some of the tail bar run together, I have a semi Picasso that also does this. I'll try and get a pic tomorrow for you.

The middle marking of yours looks like a snowflake, along with not having much black around its bars.

So it should have bolder lines along with some more black on the orange? This is what I figured out from Google but it's hard to know if them are the right fish or not
