After a good two years my skimmer pump stopped working on my K1 Neo Skimmer and I need to order a new one. I’m wondering…how long do your skimmer pumps usually last? I feel like two years is good on a stock pump and a relatively inexpensive skimmer.

I don't know... I've only had Reef Octos and have only replaced one pump - after about 7 years.
Did you try disassembling and cleaning it?

That’s early for a failure IMM.
I have cheap Jebao pumps beyond 6 years.
Did it fail or stick?
Sometimes they run forever, sometimes not, hit and miss.

I found that when I turned off my skimmer pump a lot for maintenance they did not last. I began doing maintenance without turning the skimmer off by taking the cup off and just letting the water overflow. I did not have to replace any more skimmer pumps after that.

I got about a year out of those pumps. Two years is pretty good imo for $25 pump.

This was in the OLD DAYS! I had an AC Mag9.5 that powered mine. Lasted as long as the tank.....5 years.

I also lucked out with my return, an old, used RIO 2100. Five years as well.....

How long? I'll let you know when/if mine fails. Tunze 9004 DC been going for 5 years.

My belief is to get the very best you can (or can afford). Take a look at the Sicce Syncra DC Nano Pump. Now, I'm not sure what it takes to make sure it'll all hook up properly as I haven't looked into that. And the price ain't bad at all......

Sorry for the soap box but I try to buy something that will last or is repairable.

Sick of throw away **** companies make. Two years is not long enough.

My octo skimmer was bought used and been running many years.
